About Samarathon

Samarathon is a marathon that’s run around your life. Run, jog or walk 26.2 miles this July to improve your wellbeing and help raise money for Samaritans

By taking on Samarathon or supporting others who are taking part, you’re supporting Samaritans to be here for anyone who needs us.

We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected all of our lives. Samaritans is a critical service, needed now more than ever. Our volunteers are working hard to minimise disruption to our services and support the people who need us.

Infographic: In what ways do people feel better after calling? Answer: 74% feel listened to; 74% have options for dealing with difficult situations; 70% feel more hopeful about the future; 67% are better able to cope with every day life; 62% feel more understood; 62% are calmer and 53% feel less lonely or isolated.

By taking part in Samarathon or supporting others who are, you are helping us to continue our work.

We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Your Samarathon fundraising will help Samaritans be here for anyone who needs help. As little as £5 could fund one call for help. Raising £150 could fund 30 calls or train and support three Samaritans volunteers for a year.

“We all know that keeping physically fit has a positive impact on our mental wellbeing. Living in a world where people can feel a lot of pressure to look good, we thought it was important to roll out a fitness-fundraising initiative that focused on feeling good. We hope supporters will encourage their friends and family of all ages to take part so it can be an achievable challenge they share and enjoy together.”
